UNFAIR POLITICAL METHODS.
PRIME MINISTER ATTACKED. MR. STALLYVORTHY'S CRITICISM. i Last night Mr. A. J. Stallworthy, United candidate for Eden, addressed a crowded audience at the Regent Theatre, Epsom. He was given a most attentive hearing and at the conclusion of his speech was accorded a hearty vote of thanks and confidence. Mr. H. H. Garland presided.
Mr. Stallworthy dealt fully with the United party's platform and its constructive policy. He severely criticised what he described as the unfair political methods' adopted by the Prime Minister, stating that when the Auckland City Council • suggested, over 18 months ago, the desirability of the Government taking some action to set aside Motuihi Island as a marine park for Auckland, Mr. Coates did nothing, even after the Mayor, Mr. George Baildon, made a special trip to Wellington on the matter, said Mr. Stallworthy. "But a few weeks prior to the election, Mr. Coates makes an announcement that Motuihi will be made a marine park. If that is not seeking votes, I do not know what is." (Applause, i
