THE OPENING DAY. LOW SCORES GENERALLY. MORMAN" GETS A CENTURY.

The opening of the Suburban Association season on Saturday in fine weather was marked by low scoring generally among the seniors, but Glen Eden came to light with a score of 271 against Green Lane. This large total was chiefly contributed to by G. Morman, who played a free, attractive innings tor the first century of the season, which he made at the rate of about a run a minute. On the first day's play Ponsonby has a lead of 85 runs on Ellerslie in the first innings. GAMES IN THE SOUTH

WELLINGTON. The grade cricket competitions opened on continued on Saturday. Results were : Wellington 152, v. University no wickets for S runs ; Hutt, 202, v.
