WONDERFUL WEST COAST.
DIFFICULTY OF ROAD ACCESS.
GRANTS OBTAINED BY MR. MASON.
"Auckland does not sufficiently realise the wonderful scenic asset it has in the Waitakere Ranges," said Mr. H. G. R. Mason, Labour candidate for Auckland Suburbs, speaking at Huia on Saturday evening. "The marine views are particularly fine. It is fortunate that they are within such easy reach of the city." The road access had hitherto been a great difficulty, but the West Coast Road had been declared a main highway and the Government grants obtained by the speaker for the road down the Manukau Harbour frontage had been of a substantial character, so there was a good prospect of this scenic asset receiving some of the appreciation it deservea. At the close of the meeting, over which Mr. W. R. Morrison presided, a unanimous vote of thanks and confidence in Mr. Mason was passed.
