TO BUY BEER.
A native of Finland, Kurt Bjorkborm, who came up at the Police Court to-day, admitted charges of drunkenness and mischief by wilfully damaging two panes of glass to the extent of 15/, the property of Hilda Jackson. "This man got too much liquor in him yesterday," said Sub-Inspector McCarthy. "He rents a room, and going back yesterday afternoon he caused some damage. He had a razor in one hand and a brick in the other." "Oh, dear," said the magistrate, Mr. P. K. Hunt. Nothing previously was known against accused, so the police added. Bjorkborm, who had to be treated at the hospital, following his arrest, told the magistrate that he was not working. "Where did you get the money to get beer—to get drunk on?" asked the subinspector. "Oh. I pawned my singlets," replied accused. Mr. Hunt imposed a fine of 5/ on the first charge nnd £1 on the second, and ordered Bjorkborm to pay for damage done and expenses, a total of £1 14/0, plus the fines.
