THE SECRET OF GOOD
DRESSING
THE NEW ORNAMENTS. (BY A PARISIAN EXPERT.)
The face of Paris has changed very much within the last week. The large number of well-dressed women who were to be met in the streets have now left, or they are wearing plain tailormades, and pass unnoticed. There is a tourist look about most clothes that are worn now, and this causes many visitors to Paris, who read about lovely Parisian dresses, to think that the accounts are somewhat exaggerated.
awakened to the fact that the girl of more than normal height, has a definite need, and that in this direction, there is a wide scope for those creative talents for which the dressmakers of Paris are famous.
For the tall girl is one of the most difficult subjects in the world to dress —j and particularly to dress well. The straight line is not for her, nor are knee-length skirts, while boyish modes only often serve to make her appear ridiculous. Her frocks must be cut in such a way that any suggestion of ungainliness disappears, and they must be a means of assisting her to carry her height with gracious dignity. If this type of girl, who often suffers as much from her inches as the short stout girl suffers from the lack of them," can be sure of her dresses, on which she can impress her personality, instead of having to wear unsuitable frocks, because no one takes the trouble to design the right ones, she will indeed have much for which to thank the couturieres.
