Apparently Mr. Kirkwor>d IS unramiliar with certain rules and by-laws or the Edgeworth Club. One by-law adopted unanimously year? ago-—and never amended—is as follows: —"The quality and navour of Edgeworth, Tobacco shall n«»ver be changed." Barlow Bros.. Christchurch. Dear Sirs, —A cheap watch will lie to U» continually about the very Muff life is made or, and poor tobacco will steal what is left or it. It is, however, a reasonable argument that one will never pet more out or a pipe than is put into it. I settled that argument long- ago by adopting Edgeworth. Edgeworth is exactly right, so I caution you by the great briar pipe, neve? attempt to change i: in any sense. Tor I believe 1 ■would detect it. 1 • certain regard for my, pipe, which I do not care to abuse.—Yours very truly. A. H. Kirkland. — (Ad.)
