NORTHCOTE RATEPAYERS.
PROVISION FOR CHILDREN'S PLAY,
The monthly meeting of the Xorthcote Ratepayers and Residents' Association was presided over by Mr. C. J. W. Taylor (president). Complimentary references were made to the joint efforts of Messrs. J. R. Jones (the association's representative) and J. E. Mays (borough overseer), in respect to most favourable arrangements _ made for the equipment for the s play area in the municipal recreation ground. This includes seven swings, roek-a-bye swing, see-saw, chutes and pole slide. It was decided to urge that the utmost expedition be observed in the construction and installation of this equipment. Special thanks were recorded for the exceUent work of Messrs. Mays and Jones in this connection. The council's attention is to be drawn to the track being made over the grass lawn in the wharf approach reserve by pedestrians using this area for a footpath. It was considered if the practice was not discontinued that the grass would be worn down and the beauty of the lawn be seriously impaired. Efforts are to be made toward helping forward the extension of the automatic telephone service to Birkenhead and Xorthcote.
