OHINEMURI MINING.
TREATMENT OF ORES. WAIHI COMPANY'S OFFER. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent) WAIHI, this day. A meeting of the Ohinemuri District Mining and Prospecting Committee will be held in Paeroa this evening to consider proposals submitted to the Mines Department by the Waihi Company relative te the crushing and treatment of ore* brought in by prospectors and syndicates. It is understood that the Waihi Company's proposal has been submitted at the request of the Mines Department, as an alternative to that already made by the Rising Sun Company, which has nowceased operations. Mr. H. W. Hopkins, acting-superinendent of the Waihi Company, and Mr. J. F. Downey, mining inspector, will be present at the meeting. The Prospecting Committee, which is representative of the who'e Ohinemuri district, was formed with the object of giving a fresh impetus to mining generally, and particularly to prospecting, by the establishment of a public crushing plant. As the result of the committee's efforts the Supplementary Estimate included a grant of £4584 for prospecting for gold, and £1000 on account as assistance for the Rising Sun public crushing battery.
The Auckland Electric Power Board announces a shut down of supply on. Sunday next between 11 a.m. and 5 p.m. in the KLngsland area, and in the area supplied by the transformers in Empire Road, Eipsom.
