AUCKLAND SHAREMARKET.

TRANSACTIONS ON 'CHANGE More business was done on 'Change to-day, and several advances in price were recorded. War Loan 4% per cent. 1938 and 1938, sold at £99 10/, and are still wanted at 5/ under that figure. Bank of New South Wales shares also advanced, a sale being recorded at £51 15/. Union Bank shares sold at £15 7/ yesterday afternoon, and at the morning call to-day business was done in Commercial Bank ordinary shares at £1 10/4. Commercial Bank preference issue could now be placed at £7 6/6. Several sales were made of Wilsons Cement at £2, and buyers still offer threepence less. Business was done yesterday afternoon in Checker Taxi shares at 8/, and to-day sixpence under that figure was offered. New Zealand Refrigerating contributing issue sold at 9/2, and Mount Lyell shares were placed at £1 16/9, which is a slight advance. Waihi shares, ex div., sold at 13/ Vit the noon call. Auckland Gas eased a shade, sales being made at £1 3/1, and £1 2/11. British Tobacco shares had further transactions at £2 4/. Insurance shares are having more attention. South British sold yesterday afternoon at £3 3/, ex div. Steady inquiry is made for National Insurance at 16/6, but latterly no sellers have quoted. New Zealand Insurance again advanced, sales being made at £2 6/6. Renown Collieries sold yesterday afternoon at 16/ and 16/3, and this morning there were sellers at the former price, with buyers at 15/6. New Zealand Breweries were asked for to-day at £2 14/6, and for Wellington Woollen preference shares £6 18/6 could be got. BUSINESS DONE. AT THE 3.15 P.M.
