PACER KILLED.
NIHILIST JUNIOR DESTROYED.
Injuries received by the chestnut gelding Nihilist Junior while working at Epsom this morning necessitated his destruction. With Stan. Selkirk in the saddle the gelding was training with Chrystal. After doing a round at a solid pace the gelding was speeded up at the half-mile post. Near the threefurlong mark the chestnut wobbled and, failing to recover, landed on his head and crashed on to his back. Selkirk was underneath the chestnut but was not injured. After some delay a gun was secured and the gelding was put out of his misery. It is believed he broke his back.
Nihilist Junior, who was owned by Mr. Bridgens, was purchased in the south only a few months back. Last season he won three times and was in a minor place on eight occasions, his stake winnings amounting to £568 10/.
