WHAT IS "SUPER-aoVERNMENT"?

Public Interest Around. Keen interest is being taken in the question of "Super-Government," so much so that it is not out of place to state just what this peculiar system represents.

"Super-Government means the extortion of secret pledges from Members of Parliament to support an unpopular minority organisation. The New Zealand Alliance stands for this pernicious maladministration, openly proclaiming that it has "CAPTURED Parliament"! What does this signify? The people at the ballot box have voted against the menace of prohibition. They have elected representatives to Parliament to look after their interests. Along comes the alliance extorting pledges from the people's representatives. Instead of the House of Representatives being free and unfettered to forward the glorious traditions of British justice and administration the Alliance pulls the strings in the background, subverting the very principles on which democracy and safe government rest! Such an iniquitous practice is "Super-Government." J

New Zealanders cannot afford to allow this menace to their Parliamentary privileges to go unchecked. It is an un-British system and smacks of the trickery and subterfuge of American politicians' methods. Prohibition openly stands for this reprehensible "SuperGovernment." Every voter in New Zealand who values liberty and honourable government should vote unhesitatingly for Continuance and clean politics. (Ad.)

Plans are afoot for the supplying of natural gas from Alberta to the United States through a pipe-line several miles long. A permit has been granted by the Canadian Government for the export of the surplus gas of a well located four miles north of the International boundary, and the proposed pipe-line to Montana will, it is expected, open up big markets in that State.
