Mr. H. de Costa, of Bisborne, is visiting Auckland, and is at the Grand Hotel.

Staying at the Hotel Cargen are Mr. J. M. Hood (Los Angeles), Mr. R. Jacob (India), and Mr. H. H. Robinson (Wellington).

Surgeon Lieutenant E. B. Pollard, of H.M. sloop Laburnum, completed his term of service with the New Zealand Squadron to-day, His place is being taken by Surgeon Lieutenant Quinn. Colonel Knott, chief secretary of the Salvation Army in New Zealand, will leave by the Niagara on Wednesday for Vancouver on his way to England. He will be accompanied by Mrs. Knott.

Among the guests at the Star Hotel are Mr. R. B. Smith (Wellington), Mr. and Mrs. W. R. Quinn (Wellington), Mr. H. Kay (Wellington), Mr. R. GirlingButcher (Wellington), Mr. W.
