The, Victoria Amateur Turf Club's spring meeting was concluded St. Caulfield to-day., Showery weather' was. in evidence, but the attendance was not. seriously affected. Several New Zealanders were present.

In the decision of the .Oby Hurdle J3ace Conjurer was prominent, throughout, arid scored easily. He is a fullbrother to the brilliant Poitrel, and this was his first success over the battens. .

Werbelle, who was fourth in the early stages of the Nursery Handicap, led into the straight and won in good style. He cost the owner, Mr. A. T. Che'swick, 1200 gyineas as .a, yearling. _ The rider lw.fts .J..-o'Brien, who wen th& Australian Oup on Sea .Money; - -

Junot King was always prominent in the Wyuna Steeplechase, and repeated his performance of the preceding Saturday by scoring a victory. He was ridden by W. Howson. The time was a course record.

The Caulfield Cup brought out the fine field of twenty-four, with the Englishbred horse Gothic at the head of the list. The race was run at a solid pace, and the five-year-old mare Maple registered a popular victory. Maple is owned by Mr. E. Lee Steere, who furnished the winner of the race in 1920 with Eurythmic. Mr. Steere originally raced in Western Australia and arrived in Victoria some eight months ago. Maple was ridden by W. Duncan, whose first success it was in the race. J. Holt trained Maple, who is engaged in the Melbourne Cup with 8.13. Up to date Maple has won 13J races.

Gothic who was always in a good position, had every chance to win ihe cup. The New Zealand gelding Hynanna was never dangerous.

The three-year-old colt Allecreet put up a remarkable performance in the Burwood Handicap. In the last half-mile the field was strung out. Allecreet finished up his task in fast style. He is engaged in the Melbourne Cup with 6.7. King of Revelry led over the last five furlong in the Windsor Handicap. The rider, W. Duncan scored his second win of the afternoon. Bel Rouge was fourth. WYUNA STEEPLECHASE of 600sovs. Two miles three furlongs. JUNOT KING, 9.12 1 FORMIBLE, 10.10 ... 2 ORANGE PARK, 9.3 3 Won by two and n-half lengths, three lengths between second and third. Lanage fourth. Time, 4.343. Jurisprudence fell and broke his neck. Lanage broke down during the race.

Gothic and Mutcha following, with Textile still last. Beppinsan moved into second place at the turn and led into the straight from Maple. The latter then took charge and won brilliantly by two lengths and a-half from Black Duchess, with Gothic running on half-a-length back, followed in order by Ethelton, Alfred the Great, Beppinsan, Valparaiso, Horoscope, Serbury and Reputed King, with Textile and Murnini last. Time, 2.332. The fractioned times in the Caulfleld Cup contest were:—First four furlongs, 51£s; next four, 50J, the last four, 51J, the concluding six, 1.175, and the last mile, 1.412. BURWOOD HANDICAP of 600sovs. For three-year-olds. One mile and a furlong. ALLECREET, 7.8 1 CIMBRAIN, 8.10 2 EL REY, 7.3 3 Thirteen started. Woe by a length and three-quarters; three-quarters of a length between second and third. Time, 1.143.

G. Young, a jockey formerly associated with Gloaming lately intended to retire from the saddle and become a trainer, but the difficulty of securing premises was serious, and he decided to resume} riding. He celebrated the renewal of his license yesterday by riding two winners at the Canterbury Park meeting—Gritall in the High-weight (first division) and Canberra Florin in the second division of the same event.

OHINEMURI JOCKEY CLUB.

The Ohinemuri Jockey Club will hold a non-totalisator meeting on Saturday, November 17. The programme issued in connection therewith comprises seven events which carry prize-money to the amount of £220. Nominations for all events close on October 26.
