A SPORTS HOLIDAY.
ATHLETICS AND FOOTBALL.
Labour Day (Monday next) as a holiday will be devoted to sports of bothwinter and summer varieties, the outstanding event in this line being, of course, the Labour Day sports at-the' Domain. Here arrangements have been made to bring together the most prominent pedestrians and 4 cyclists in track events, and to provide continuous com--petitions ; for ' children of all ages* arid both sexes. ■' It is the great picnic Bports. day of the year in town. Also connected with the official Labour DayCommittee is a League football tournament, o| which the . final matches Will be played at Carlaw Park. To-morrow evening a Labour Day entertainment will be held at the Majestic Theatre. Racing on Monday will be represented within range of city dwellers at Whangarei, where the Northland trots are to be held and at Cambridge, the scene of the Waikato Hunt Club races. In town a number of the bowling dubs are holding all-day tournaments, and the lawn tennis, cricket and golf clubs are holding holiday events^
