BREACH OF PROHIBITION ORDER.

Dowell was charged with being drunk in Khyber Pass yesterday, and also with committing a breach of his prohibition order, and entering a Newmarket Hotel while under such order. He pleaded not guilty to all three charges.

A constable produced medical evidence that accused was drunk when examined at the Police Station.

Mr. Hunt: That doesn't matter. Ton were prohibited.

Sub-Inspector McCarthy informed the magistrate that accused had 27 previous convictions, but had not been before the court until August for nearly three years.

"I have tried to go straight," said Dowell from the dock.

Mr. Hunt: Yes, I see you have. Are you working now?— Yes. I was on the way home and happened to be talking to a friend in Khyber Pass when the constable came up and arrested me.

"Well, you had too many drinks with that friend," said Mr. Hunt, in imposing a fine of 10/, or 48 honrs.

Mr. Hunt: All right. See that it doesn't.
