ROME, October 19.
The Italian Communist, Delia Maggiora, who was sentenced to death on Wednesday for the murder of two men ft Ponte, was shot against a wall at sunrise yesterday morning.
Maggiora's appeal for a reprieve was not permitted to be sent to King Victor Emmanuel. The condemned man was sleeping when the warders entered his cell at 6 a.m. He was later led out between a file of fully-armed Carabineer", and a car conveyed him to the cemetery at Ponte Buggianesezn, the little village where he committed his crimes.
Here 600 Fascist militiamen were drawn up, and in front of them was the firing squad of twelve Fascists, with their rifles ready loaded. Maggiora was told to sit in a chair. He obeyed, and after being blindfolded asked for a cigarette.
Then the parish priest advanced to administer the last Sacraments. Maggiora repulsed him with biting taunts. The officer gave the order to fire. Maggiora fell dead and was buried in the cemetery.-
