MRS. S. A. McALPINE.

OLD THAMES RESIDENT.

One of the pioneer members of the Old Thames Girls' Association, Mrs. Sarah Ann McAlpine died on October 18 at the residence of her son, Mr. R. Corbett, Beckenham Avenue, Epsom, aged 88 years. When she was 20 years old she arrived in New Zealand by the ship Frenchman, and from here went to join her brother in Queensland, where she was married to the late Mr. J. Corbett. Shortly after the opening of Thames goldfields. Mr. and Mrs. Corbett came to New Zealand, and for thirty years the wife lived at Thames. When her husband died, Mrs. Corbett moved to Waihi, where she was married by the late Mr. Duncan McAlpine. She enjoyed good health until a short period prior to her death. The following children survive: Mr. J. Corbett, of Thames;. Mr. T. Corbett, of Waihi; and Mr. R. Corbett, of Epsom. The interment took place at Thames to-dav.
