OBITUARY.
MR. JOHN MILNE,
General regrfet will be felt by the many friends of Mr. John Milne, of Seaview Road, Remuera, to learn that his death occurred yesterday afternoon.
Last Sunday night Mr. Milne had a seizure, and it was recognised from the first to be very serious. Mr. Milne, as well as being highly esteemed, was loved by all who knew him, on account of his genial good nature, and also because he was ever ready to help those in trouble.
He was born near Toronto, Canada, in September, 1865, being of Scottish descent. He was trained as an engineer, and had supervised large installations of machinery in various parts of the United States and Canada. He went to Australia over 30 years ago as attorney in Australasia of Waterous, Ltd., of Canada, and while there supervised the erection of many other plants. He came across to New Zealand later, and about 23 years ago joined the firm of Jol.n Chambers and Son, Ltd., as manager of the branch at Wellington. On the death of Mr. J. M. Chambers Mr. Milne wan appointed managing director of the company, and he had since lived in Auckland.
Mr. Milne was a member of the Auckland Fire Board, the Auckland Club, and one of the founders of the Rotary Club in this city. He is survived by Mrs. Milne (a daughter of the late Mr. John Bollard, M.P.) and three daughters.
