Mr. Lloyd George, Leader of the I Liberal party, yesterday attended s j race meeting for the first time in hi* ' life. He was staving near Newmarket as the guest of Viscount St. Davide. and took the oppor tunity of goinj: with his host to see the Cesar e witch. Mr. George show ed great . interest in the proceeding* !>oth in the paddock and on the race course. He declined to make a be* though many book makers were willing to give him generous odds. In a chat with journalists, Mr. Gewge defended his presence on the racecourse by saying that he believed anything which played so great a part in the > life of the nation as did horse racing demanded his attention. 1
