HOBSON CROQUET CLUB.

Despite adverse weather conditions, the Mount Hobson Croquet Club opened their season yesterday afternoon. A delicious tea was served in the pavilion, which was decorated in the club's colours, red and white flowers and bunting. The president, Mrs. J. C. Badeley, opened the season. The greens are in perfect condition, and four new lawns have been added, besides shelters. The occasion was the fifteenth anniversary for the club. A large birthday cake, decorated with the club's colours (red and white) adorned the centre of the table, and was cut by one of the first presidents, Mrs. M. G. Harvey. The president, Mrs. Badeley received the guests in a powder blue marocain; Mrs. R. Abbott wore a chocolate English tweed suit, brown felt hat; Mrs. Schnauer was in a fawn and powder blue ensemble suit and fawn hat; Mrs. R. Keesing wore a brown suit; Mrs. F. J. Worthington, brown figured crepe de chine, sapphire blue felt hat and scarf; Mrs. J. Buchanan, blue cloth, fawn felt hat; Mrs. W. Airey, biscuit jersey cloth and fawn hat; Mrs. S. J. Harbutt, beige wool crepe, worked in jade green, hat to tone; Mrs. Shrimski, Burgundy cloth, embroidered in braids, hat to tone; Mrs. E. H. Wight, navy blue tailored suit; Mrs. Campbell, maroon cloth coat frock, grey felt hat; Mrs. F. Clark, black, trimmed with royal blue, black satin hat; Mrs. F. Wilson, navy blue crepe

fleuri, hat to match; Mesdames Baieley, Millar, Cottar, Malcolm, Nicoll, Black, Fountain, Hawken, Sinclair, Craig, Farquhar, Sommerville, C. F. Mark, Ovenden, McFarlane, Mills-Palmer, Misses Woods and Jenkins were among the guests. Various shades of cyclamen and turquoise blue were used for the decorations at the Mutual Aid rooms last evening, when the strains of the Felix Orchestra enlivened the evening. Many pretty frocks were noticed among the guests. The convenor of the dance was Mrs. MacGregor, who wore blush rose chiffon taffeta; Mrs. F. Wilson, flame georgette, bordered with fur; Mrs. Weetman, cherry georgette over gold; Mrs. Von Sturmer, navy blue crepe de chine and gold; Mrs. Bell, Oriental lace, over blue satin; Mrs. Dowding, turquoise blue duchess satin and gold lace; Mrs. Collins, briar rose crepe de chine panel, gold and pink tinsel lace; Miss Tyson, jade green ring velvet and bead fringe; Mrs. Owen Salmon, pink georgette, embroidered; Mrs. Larsen, black chiffon taffeta, Oriental embroideries; Miss Hennessv, black lace and georgette; Mrs. P.
