INTER-SCHOOL SPORTS.

HIGHLY SUCCESSFUL MEETING

SENIOR CHAMPIONSHIP TO KING'S . MOUNT ALBERT WIN JUNIOR, i HONOURS, So successful was the Auckland Secondary Schools' Athletic Association's first combined sports meeting on the Domain yesterday afternoon that it is certain that the event will henceforward rank among the most popular of the annual school fixtures. It was the first tournament of its kind to be staged at Auckland, 'although such meetings are held at southern centres and in Australia each year, and it reflects considerable credit on, thou® responsible for the organisation that everything went without a hitch. lii< addition to a crowd of several thousand secondary' school pupils, both girls and boys, there was a fair attendance of parents and friends of the runners, although there is no doubt that had the meeting been held on Saturday, as originally intended, the gate takings would have- been considerably greater. Even with a mid-week fixture arid rain threatening, the proceeds will more, than cover expenses. The schools competing . were: Auckland; Grammar School, King's College, Mount Albert Grammar School, Sacred Heart College, Seddon Memorial - Technical College, St. Stephen's Maori School • and Takapuna Grammar School. Each school was represented in each event by two competitors, and points. were, awarded as follow:-?— First, five, points; second, three points; third, one point. In the relay race, over a distance of one mile, the points were ten, six and two.
