The chairman, Mr. J., N. Massey, presided at yesterday's meeting of the Franklin County Council. The Valuation Department forwarded summary of the valuation of the county. It showed ,that the capital value in 1928 wag. £5,813,740, as against £5,486,698 in 1921". $JiQ_.uniniproved value was £3,185,242 an<s££&7ra,7B2 respectively, and the value of' 'Hfoe £2,628,498 and £1,784,916 respectively. Mr. S. Adcock Drury, on .behalf of ratepayers- On Fitzgerald's Road, Drury, asked tlie council to take steps to raise a loan of £500, tS' be subsidised £ for £ by the Government, for metalling this and the connecting road, on condition the forma■tioii work: spas: paid for out of rate revenue. The request is to be acceded to. ' Thfe district engineer, Public Works Department, advised the council to insist on a chain wide road being dedicated in place of the existing half chain right of way between Opaheke railway station and the Papakura-Hunua main highway, in yifcw <)f the use which might be made of tKis road, and the probability of subdivision of the properties abutting thereon.
