NAKED LIGHTS IN SHIP.
. CHRISTCHIIRGH, John Howick, master of the coastal steamer John, was fined 10/ St Eyttolton for burning naked lights in a vessel ■which was carrying petroleum exceediu« 200 gallons, such lights not having been approved in writing by "a" marine surveyor.
The case was the first of its kind heard in the Dominion, and a heavy penalty was not asked for.
The offence arose through repairs hkv-' Jng to be made to the dynamo. The" master was absent from the ship at the time.
