"A PRESS ORCHESTRA."

Your leading article headed "A Prw Orchestra" sets forth the workings of the Press orchestra conductcd by Mussolini. Fetf countries can boast of a creator or more equitable Press than we have in New ZetluA With regard to the Press of Italy it is nol difficult to understand why such stern incisures have been taken if one had seen the vusf conglomeration of printed papers and journals existing iu Italy prior to Mussolini's ascent t-o power. In most cases they were totally opposed to common sense, and in muf instances they represented the voices of tbs most disloyal and unprogressivc people, who used the Press as a medium to bring about their own diabolical ends. Mussolini h* l proved himself the greatest politician reigning at the present moment. He saw at one glance there must exist unity for a country to make progress. He saw the deplorable state that Italy had fallen into and that nothing hot united action could bring her to a state of prosperity. Then he fell on those so-called journals and vanquished them in one . fell swoop. What has been the result? He hss produced a Press orchestra whose duty it is to further the advancement of Italy, not to retard it. Indeed, it is a mighty orchestra, and if it had not accomplished much for the . people it would long sinc-c have been interred. Results are the only things that mortals can judge by. Before this great man catne into power there were close on 800,000 people Tha country was practically bankrupt, hat what do we find since he lias been the baton ? Unemployment has diminished to about 20.000 in a population of forty million?. The whole of our Empire is up against this mighty problem, unemployment, and has so . far not yet devised a means to overcome it. Even in this small country there are hundred® out of employment. They would be only too pleased to find someone who could control and conduct an orchestra that would give then employment. As your leading article s'J" 5 * wa have much yet to learn from Ttalv.
