DIED IN BURNING HOUSE.
OLD MAX'S REMAINS FOUND.
(By Telegraph.—Press Association.)
IXVERCARGILL, Tuesday.
In an attempt to save furniture from his burning residence, Michael Egan, aged 82, was apparently overcome by heat and smoke and collapsed before he could regain safety. His charred remains were later found among the ruins of the house at Wairio.
Mr. Egan had been awakened by his son and was seen outside the house, but in the confusion his absence was not noticed until too late.
