(Before Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M.) IDLE WOMEN. In the "Who;s Who" of the Police Court Agnes Kennedy (43) and Daisy Constance Martha King come under the same heading. Both appeared this morning charged with being drunk—the third time within six months—and as an extra the police pat in a charge of idle and disorderly. Each admitted the first charge, but strenuously denied the second aspersion, but when witnesses gave evidence that neither had done much or any work for a month, and preferred to frequent hotels, his Worship put a stop to it by sentencing each to three months' imprisonment. TORE HER FROCK. A charge of assault was preferred by Lilian May Chapman (Mr. Sullivan) against John William Ward (Mr. Fraer). Complainant, who said she had been living with Ward and had two children by him, had left him recently because of his cruel treatment of her. When in an Onehunga tramcar a few days ago Ward had boarded the car and grabbed a handful of the neck of her frock, ripping it down to the waist. He then jumped from the car, but the same day sent her " £5 to cover the damage." Ward's opinion of the damage done to the frock was "just a tiny tear." He said the trouble was that comnlainant told him she was pntting the children in a home. She would send for him. but vlien he called she would not see him.
