DANGEROUS CROSSING.
RAILWAY AT HUNTLY. Mr. R. E. Champtaloup, touring manager for the A.A.A., has returned from a visit to Huntly, where Mr. K. S. Caldwell has been appointed agent to the association. A meeting of motorists was held during Mr. Chainptaloup's visit, motorists to the number of forty from as far afield as Pukemiro being present. After the various matters affecting the welfare ot the association had been talked over a discussion took place in regard to what was regarded as a menace to the safety of motorists at Huntly. Several speakers drew attention to the combined railway and traffic bridge in the township, stating that if something were not done to warn motorists of the approach Of trains there was bound to be a serious accident. It was stated that several narrow escapes had been recorded recently. It was pointed out that while certain precautions were taken by the Railway Department to warn traffic on the Puke-miro-Rotowaro Road going out of Huntly the same did not apply to incoming traffic, and therein lay the crossing danger. Mr. Champtaloup promised the meeting to make representations to the Government with a view to the Railway Department doing something in the matter.
