FATHER KILLED.
IN SON'S RESCUE. Famous Balloonist Falls From House Top. FATALITY SEEN BY HUNDREDS. (Australian Press Assn.—United Service.) (Received 1 p.m.) LONDON, September 9. Percival Spencer, a son of the famous balloonist, Captain Harry Spencer, ascended at a charity carnival at Rugby at the close of a thanksgiving service. The balloon suddenly dropped on to the roof of the Rugby schoolmaster's house and Percival hung on to the roof desperately until he was rescued on a ladder. His father ascended to the roof to disentangle the balloon but collapsed, probably overcome by gas and dropped 50 feet on his head. He was killed instantly in sight of a large crowd. Ambulance men and police rushed to the house wall and vainly attempted r.o break the fall.
