HARSH TREATMENT.
ALLEGED IN CANADA. (Australian and N.Z. Press Association.) (Received 1.30 p.m.) LONDON, September 9. Remarkable allegations of harsh treatment toward the British unemployed who went to Canada as harvesters, 300 of whom were reported to bp returning to England, are made in the "Daily HeraJd," which publishes extracts of letters. It is stated that some men were forced to sleep in the open.in bitter cold following 18 to 20 hours of work daily. Many were turned into the streets and were living on charity.
