B'S GOOD SHOWING.

NORTHERN WAIROA SWAMPED. THIRTY-POUR POINTS TO NIL. In the curtain-raiser to the AucklandWanganui game, an Auckland B team ran away from the Northern Wairoa representatives to win by 34 points to 0. Auckland won the toes, and Northern Wairoa kicked off again6t the wind. Play opened quietly. After fruitless efforts by the Anckland backs, the local vanguard dribbled play into the visitors' twenty-five. The Aucklanders persisted, and J. Wilson receiving the ball almost on the line, only had to touch down, but he lost the ball and a force resulted. However, the next rally was more successful, practically all the local backs handling in turn until Falwasser was well grassed by Wade. Stuart was handy and picking up from the melee, scored an easy try behind the posts. Wales' shot at goal failed. Then came the change over. Falwasser made a dazzling run, and the visitors were again hard pressed, till a force brought relief. Nathan intercepted and made a useful run, which reached the opposition's twenty-five, where the visiting backs had their first passing bout. The locals easily stemmed the onslaught, and Marshall, breaking away, gained a lot of ground. The visitors were penned close to their lines, and j from loose work Watene got over, the try being converted by Wales. Soon after, pretty play by the locals brought another score. Mason and Falwasser between them completely baffled the defence, and made an opening for Bunting to score. Butler's Bhot at goal failed.

When play was resumed after halftime, the locals jumped smartly in with a fine attacking movement. Mason sent a long pass to Solomon, who made a strong run, and then gave J. Wilson a clear passage to score behind the posts. Wales converted.

In the final quarter the locals were in scoring mood and much too good for the opposition. From a scrum in the twenty-five, the Auckland forwards pushed tho opposition to their line. The ball was kicked over and Bunting touched down. Wales converted.

The Auckland backs now staged the best exhibition of the day. Mason sent the ball away smartly. It was well handled in turn by Stewart, Wales, Watene and Falwasser, the last mentioned scoring. Butler goaled from a difficult angle. The B's returned to the attack, and the visitors were compelled to force. Then Falwasser, taking a pass from Stuart, side-stepped the opposing backs and finished a brilliant effort with a ■core. Butler failed to convert. The game was now searing its close, but before the plucky visitors were given a rest, one more score was registered. Watene got over and f Butler converted. Auckland B's .1... 34 Northern Wairoa 0 /' Mr. G. Pearce was referee.
