DEATH ON THE VERONICA. TOMATO TRADE GROWING. (From Our Own Correspondent.) SUVA, September 6. The export of tomatoes from Suva to Sydney is assuming quite large proportions. By the outgoing Ventura 2500 {cases were dispatched. Many more cases would have gone on but for the strict eliminating process of the produce inspectors, who refused all small-sized fruit. A sad and very sudden death took place at Levuka on Friday morning. It appears that Warrant Engineer Christopher Hans Nichols. of the sloop of war Veronica, attended a dance on Thursday night. On his return to the ship he complained of being unwell, and was attended by a doctor before retiring. At 4 o'clock in the morning he was found lying dead in his bed. He was 47 years old, and a native of Plymouth. It is believed he is survived by a widow and family. He was buried at Draiba cemetery, Levuka, with full naval honours. The Rev. Mr. Gibbins, Methodist, officiated. Practically all the European residents of Levuka attended.
