FRAUD ADMITTED.
EX-LEADER OF VHEMFLOTED. SENTENCE OF HARD LABOUR. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) CHRISTCHURCH, Friday. Albert Fisher, p,t one time leader of the Christehurch unemployed, who is serving a sentence in prison, appeared in the Police Court to-day on two charges of fraud. Chief-Detective Carrol said accused when in Timaru on March 7 visited a man named Lidstone, who was a market gardener. He told Lidßtone he -was just waiting for a job as cook on the steamer Breeze and when he took over the work he would get supplies from Lidstone. Acting on that assurance Lidstone lei. t him 15/. Accused used the srme argument to a .fishmonger named Williams, obtaining fish and chips and money to the value of 0/6. He had no job on the Breeze. He had served three months now out of a six months' sentence. The Accused: I did not realise my folly. I knew Lidstone well, and I'm willing to pay him. Fm serving one sentence and I don't want to go to gaol again, for my wife is ill and I have a position to go to when I come out. Accused was sentenced to 48 hours' imprisonment with hard labour on each charge, the sentence to be added to the term he is now serving.
