COMPETITIONS.

SOME CLEVER PERFORMANCES

BALLETS, SONG AND MUSIC.

TO-DAY'S VARIED PROGRAMME

Rich in music, song and dance, tlic Auckland Competitions Society's festival was continued at the Embassy Theatre to-day, when audiences both appreciative and considerate for performers making their debut on the concert platform, attended all sessions.

Last evening's programme lived up to the high standard of entertainment set earlier in the festival, and many charming performances were given. The oratorio solo (ladies) own selection found popular favour and presented a wealth of excellent talent, while the violin solo was a delightful section, the judge commenting highly 011 the individual efforts of the juvenile performers. National dancing provided brilliant spectacles and polished exhibitions of terpsichorean practice in foreign lands. The young performers reflected credit on their teachers, and swung into their work with gay abandon and rhythm. Two fine ballets were "Czardas" given b\ r pupils of Miss Cecil Hall, and a Hungarian ballet produced by Miss Lillian O'Leary. Appropriately costumed, the performers provided bright spectacles as they tripi>ed gaily through their respective numbers. The recall sessions to-day were again entertaining, sections such as dance duos and charactcr recitals giving scope for juvenile expression, and others presenting both lady and gentleman vocalists. The latter included soprano solos ".Tune is in Mv Heart," tenor solos "Ah, Moon of My Delieht" and vocal duets. Results are as follows: — CHARACTER DANCE (under 12 years).
