BYRD EXPEDITION.
First Contingent For Dunedin On Saturday. BOT SCOUT A MEMBER (Australian and Ni Press Association.) NEW YORK, August 23 Thirty-one members of Commander Richard Byrd's Antarctic expedition will sail by the steamer City of New York on Saturday for Dunedin, New Zealand. The last member of the party to be chosen is Paul Siple. a 19-year-old Bey Scout. He will act as orderly to Commander Byrd. He was chosen from iOOO applicants. The City of New York has taken 011 board 300 tons of coal and is packed with equipment for the expedition. The aircraft, which will be dispatched later, will consist of four 'planes, with Messrs. Bernt, Balchen and Dean Smith as pilots. The small steamer Chelsea is now being reconditioned at New York. She will carry the aeronautical equipment.
