MAN HUNT BY 'PLANE.

Fugitive From Justice Scared By Pilot. CAPTURED BY DETECTIVES. (United Service.) LONDON, August 23. The pilot of a passenger 'plane, Captain Edvrin Jones, assisted in an exciting man-hunt to-day. From the air Captain Jones saw a soldier, who was suspected of having committed a serious offence, outdistancing some detectives in a cross-country chasc near the Clacton aerodrome. The airman joined in the pursuit. The machine was taken down in a nose-dive and the pilot forced the fugitive to lie flat on the ground. As the passengers were becoming nervous, he then returned to the aerodrome and dropped them. Returning to the chase, Captain Jones again dived at the running man and kept him lying on the ground until the exhausted detectives arrived. 'Tf he had not ducked I should have knocked his head off," said the pilot.

FOUR DAYS' FLIGHT. INDIA TO ENGLAND. (Australian and N.Z. Press Association.) DELHI, August 23. A report from Karachi savs Captain G. D. Barnard, who with the Duchess of Bedford and Mr. E. H. Alliott, left England on June 10 on a flight to India in the 'plane Princess Xenia, which met with engine trouble and was detained at Bushire, has reached Karachi after a non-stop flight of 1200 miles from Bushire. DELHI, August 23. 111-luck still dogs Captain Barnard, who on examining the propeller on the morning after his arrival at Karachi, found it in tie worst condition. He will have to wait several weeks, pending the arrival of a new propeller. The Duchess of Bedford decided not to wait and caught the boat from Karachi last night, which arrives at Bombay on Saturdar.
