CHILDREN'S FANCY DRESS BALL.

Great success attended a children's plain and fancy dress ball held in the Manurewa Theatre last evening in aid of the local Anglican' Church.. The floor i was occupied by over a hundred juveniles in a bewildering variety of fancy and original costumes, and it was apparent that there had been some energetic organising for the occasion. Credit for this was largely due to Mrs. R. Forbes, the children showing their appreciation by presenting her with a dainty luminous alarm clock. Reference to the j organisation work was also made by the Rev. Frank B. Dobson, who led a hearty vote of thanks accorded to Mrs. Forbes and her numerous assistants. | Excellent music was supplied by Mr. and Mrs. Kiddell and Mr. H. Gibbs, extras being contributed by Miss Lois Hewitt, Mesdames Wrightson, Warlich and Mills. An army of volunteers pro- 1 vided a splendid supper for all present, j including several hundred adults. The latter occupied the danciritf floor after 10 p.m., a very sociable entertainment continuing till the early hours of the morning. The judges of the fancy costumes were Mesdames A. C. Sexton, C'. Hesketh, Miss .TefTs and Mrssrs. \V. -T. Lopdcll and .loans. The following were the awards, in addition to which there were numerous prizes for highly-com-mended costumes: —
