COMMUNITY CLUB.

VISITED BT N.S.W. RUOBYITES

"SUNSHINE" AJ? BOYS' MEETING

At last night's fortnightly meeting at St. Thomas' Hall, Union Street, Freeman's Bay, of the boys' club of the Community Sunshine Association, there were present the manager (Mr. C. E. Morgan), the captain (Mr. S. H. Malcolm) and the vice-captain (Mr. R. B. Loudon) of the New South Wales Rugby team, and several of its members. Mr. Harry Frost, chairman of the Auckland Rugby Football Union, piloted the party, which was welcomed by the president (Mrs. N. E. Ferner) and director (Mr. H. A. Williamson). At the conclusion of a very fine speech on "Playing the Game," Mr. Morgan said he would like to see a Rugby club started in connection with the Sunshine Association, and to that end promised to present to the boys the ball used for to-morrow's match against Auckland. This statement was received with great enthusiasm, as was another undertaking by Mr. Morgan that on his return to Sydney there would be sent through the N.S.W.R.F.U. to the club an Australian flag, Mr. Morgan saying he was confident thJt he could put in the boys' trust the honour of his country, of which the presentation of the flag would be emblematic. Mr. Malcolm exhorted the boys to play the game for its own sake, and not to be tempted to turn to financial account any prowess to which they attained. Mr. Loudon's remarks were along the lines of those of the previous speakers. Incidentally he mentioned he learned the rudiments of his Rugby in Canterbury, which he left when twelve years of age. Mr. Frost complained that on this occasion the New South Wales visitors had left him nothing to say, but he indicated that next season he would be prepared to again visit the olub and would do anything in his power to assist in its development. Mr. Morgan also presented to the boys a free pass (covering the club's full membership) to to-morrow's game at Eden Park, saying this practically left him without any privileges in connection with the match. The boys are requested to meet Mr. Williamson at 2 p.m. to-morrow at the Edendale Road entrance to the park.
