CATHOLIC QUEEN CARNIVAL.
FUNCTION AT ALFRISTON
Further support was accorded the Country Queen (Miss Marie Dartby) in connection with the Manurewa Catholic Church's Queen Carnival, when a successful social and dance was held in the Alfriston public hall last evening. There was a large attendance, including many visitors from Manurewa, Takanini and surrounding districts. The greater pax - t of the evening was devoted to dancing, the music for which was supplied by Mr., Mrs. and Miss Darby; extras, nirs. H. Kimpton and Mr. A. Donaldson. Mr. W. O. Moody, as M.C., albly controlled the dancing, while Mr. A. Davie* similarly assisted with the various competitions. Winners of the latter were Messrs. A. George, R. Moody and I. Smith. Popular items were rendered by the following:— >}ias Clarice, Father Duffy and Mr. BowliniVl.A dainty supper concluded a very pteOßot entertainment. Excellent organisation was apparent, for which great credit is due to Misses Fitzpatrick, Mrs..-.Poland and the committee.
