OBITUARY.

OLD DRURY RESIDENT. MR, WILLIAM BREMXER. A very old resident of Drurv, Mr. William Bremner,. passed away on Monday at liis residence. He was (i.~> years of aye at liis death. Mr. Breinner came to New Zealand from his native town Kaitli, Caithness Scotland, in IS7O, making the voyage in the ship Waikat.o. Mr. Bremner first worked in Papakura. later marrying Miss Mary Kugg. (laughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Rugg. of Parnell. They settle) in Papakura for a number of years, and 38 years ago moved to Drurv. where t hey boon me w ell know n settiers, and li\ed there ever since. Mrs. Breinner died eleven months ago. There are seven son« and three daughters nowliving. and ei-jht. grandchildren. The funeral, which took place at Papnkurn yesterday afternoon, was largelv attended. The Rev. .T. Hubbard. Presbyterian Minister of Drurv. conducted tinservice at the Erravesif'e.

MR. B. E. YEOLAND

General regret was felt at the dcaiii of Mr. Berdt Bezeleel Yeoland at his residence, Massey Road, Manurewa, on .Monday last. The deceased was horn at Kikowhakarere, Coromandel, in 1879, the family ocing wcJi-kiiowii in tiuu district, arri he received his education at Driving Creek School. In 1901 a move was luadu to Devonport, a:ul a period of 17 years was spent in that locality. His occupation as a builder did not prevent him from taking an active part in football and various other branches of sport, and his amiable qualities as sportsman will he especi ally remembered in aquatic circles. The deceased was a member of the Devonport Rowing Club, Devonport Yacht Club, and Devonport. Power Float Association, also the Devonport Submarine Miners, under the late Captain Parker. He had the distinction of being a member of the crew which accounted tor the naval cutter race at the Auckland ISejratta during live successive years, 1900 to 1!)05. He was also well-known in musical circles as a member of the Devonport brass band.

On taking up his residence at Manurewa in 1918, the late Mr. Yeoland continued his sporting activities by assisting to form the local bowling club, of which he was at various times president and secretary. His popularity amongst his fellow members was evidenced bv the fact that some 35 of these attended the funeral, augmented by a large number of Papatoetoe bowlers, with whom he was equally popular. The deceased's occupation as a builder led to his nmvontment as building inspector to the Manurewa Town Board, a position he filled with credit till the intervention of his long illness.

Ho ia survived by Mrs. Yeoland and one daughter, and these have received numerous intimations of sympathy. A brother and two sisters of the deceased now living are: Mrs. Carter, Coromandel: Mrs. Stirling, China; Mr. Cecil Yeolnnd, Australia.

MR. F. W. BANNESTER. The death took place at Warkwortli of Mr. Frederick William Bannester, only son of the late Mr. Frederick Bannester of Wimbledon, Surrey, England. Mr. Bannester came to Auckland with his parents in the ship Dorette in 1874, and at the age of lli was serving on the Auckland-owned ship Speculator, (Captain Ervvin). Afterwards he was in the coastal trade with the late Captain J. Ragg for many years. He entered the employ of Messrs. Wilsons Portland Cement Co., Ltd, at Walkworth, about thirty years ago, and was with them until he was compelled to give up work on account of ill health three years ago. He is survived by his widow, two sons and one daughter, Mr. F. Bannester of Ponsonby, Mr. F. L. Bannester of Waihi, and Miss O. Bannester of Warkworth. He also leaves four sisters, Mrs. A. M. White of Ponsonby, Mrs. J. Mercer, Mrs. M. Cave and Mrs. E. J. Harrison of Heme Bay.
