HOCKEY.
AUCKLAND LADIES' AFFAIRS. At a meeting of the Auckland Ladies* Hockey Association, presided over by Miss P. H. Dawson, there was a full attendance of executive members. Delegates from Franklin, Rotorua, Tauranga, Waikato were also in attendance. The first round of games for the junior grade knock-out championship, to be commenced at the termination of championship games, was drawn as follows:—Technical v. Papatoetoe, Y.W.C.A. B v. l*apakura, Somerville v. Y.W.C.A. A, Mount Eden a bye. Wesley, the holders from last year, remain out of the competition until the final game of the series. It was decided that all knock-out games be played at the Remuera grounds. The Y.W.C.A. Club notified their intention of visiting Rotorua on 15th September. This arrangement was approved. The Mount Eden Club were given permission to play two games with Hauraki Plains teams on Saturday next at Remuera. The Wesley seniors were granted permission to arrange a game with Somerville seniors on Saturday next. The Arawa Club's request for a game against Waihi in Auckland on 15th September was granted. It was decided that the game Arawa v. Y.W.C.A. played on August 11, should be replayed on Saturday next. It was resolved that the game, Papatoetoe v. Papakura, in the junior grade championship, second round, should be played at Papakura. As no team was offering it was decided to notify Thames that no ladies' team from Auckland would visit Thames on September 1. The following registrations were confirmed : —Mount Eden seniors, Mrs. A. Spencer; Papatoetoe juniors, Miss Mona Waters. Miss P. H. Dawson was appointed delegate to attend next meeting of Olympic Association on 27th August. The names of players belonging to Rotorua Sub-Association to represent the Auckland Province at the New Zealand ladies' hockey tournament at Timaru at the end of the month were announced as follows * — Misses K. Rewiti, G. Rogers, R. Ratema, T. Kingi, A. Bishop, M. Duncan, M. Whata, P. Mitchell, T. Mitchell, E. Mitchell, N. Hato, M. Tauhuroa, Mrs. Pattle, Mrs. Reed, H. Garmonsway; chaperon, Mrs. D. Steele. Steele.
