CROSS INFECTION.
OVERCROWDED HOSPITAL.
"I am satisfied we will have quite a number of these cases coming along,'" said the chairman of the Auckland Hospital Board (Mr. W. Wallace) at yesterday's meeting, when Mr. W. L. Cliff.? wrote stating that his little daughter, who. was admitted to the hospital with diphtheria, contracted scarlet fe\cr through two children being placed in one bed- The trouble was lack of accommodation, explained Mr. Wallace. The board had been fighting to get decent accommodation" for infectious diseases cases. A number of children bad been similarly affected by crossinfection. and the case under notice was not the first. "We have admitted here publicly that that is what was likely to happen," added Mr. J. Eowe. In the light of these facts, it is gratifying to note that the Minister of Heaith has provisionally approved of the erection of an infectious diseases block at the hospital at a cost of £33,500.
