Mahakipawa Goldfields, Ltd.—The past week has been spent in preparing the shaft tor the cages and for the change-over from i sinking to mining gear. All necessary plant! lor the wash-up is now at the mine, and j pipe line and sluice boxes have been almost completed. Alburnia.- —The manager reports that stoping has been continued on the hanging' wail branch of the Orlando reef. The stope ; is now up to a height of lift over the bark , of the level, and the reef at the back of ; the srope shows a width of 3ft. This reef is 1 a well defined body of ore ami at first gold was seen only on rlie hanging wall portion, but at the last breaking down gold was seen also in the centre of the reef and on the footwall. A fair fptantity of the stone broken shows colours and dabs of gold. and during the week little stonj was selected, which is fairly rich.
