AUCKLAND ORPHANS' CLUB.
VISITORS FROM TAKAPI'NA." The principal .guests at the Auckland Orphans?' Club on Saturday evening were the president (Mr. D. R. C. Mowbray), secretary (Mr. E. A. Wilson) and executive of the Takapuna Orphans' Club, and the former addressed the gathering on behalf of the ■v isitors. Mr. .1. Stanton, vice-president, occupied the chair, and also welcomed Mr. •J. A. C. Allum and other guests. The programme was greatly enjoyed. The orchestra, under the baton of Mr. Harold Baxter, played the three dances, "Torn Jones" (Edward German), and the selection, ''Down by the Swanee River" ( Myddleton). Songs were contributed by Messrs. Fryer Raisher, H. Richards, N. Tucker and Aldridge, the latter being recalled several times, and sang six numbers; humorous songs by Mr. George Storey; xylophone selections by Mr. W. Hicks, and clever acrobatic feats byi Messrs. L. Wilson and Miller. The accompaniments were played by Messrs. I. Sparling and Cyril Towsey.
