INTERNATIONAL CONTESTS.
A REVIVAL OF THE SPORT.
There is every indication that Auckland will shortly experience a wrestling revival, and tliat some of the world's best grapplers will be seen in a local ring.
Negotiations between the New Zealand Wrestling Association and Stadi- j ums, Ltd., Australia, -which have been in progress for some weeks, have now readied a definite stage, and it is the intention of the Dominion body to stage a series of international contests at Auckland, featuring a number of the widely-known mat men -who have been thrilling Australian fans during the present season. Final arrangements have not yet been completed, but it is anticipated that the first of the grapplers. several of whom will be returning to America, la ml early next month. In st letter to Mr. I'. B. McCarthy, the secretary of the \.Z. Wrestling Association. Henry Irslinger. who passed through Auckland 011 his way to Australia a couple of months ago. says that he would welcome matches in the Dominion. Jrslinger beat T<d Thyp, middle-weight champion of the 'world, and, among others, earned the decision over John Kilonis. the Greek champion, and (Jama, the well-performed Indian.
