"MYSTERY NIGHT."
! NOVELTY AT IYA. Arrangements made by the Radio Broadcasting Co., for "Mystery Night," to be held on August 29, are now complete, according to a letter received from the company by the Musical and Dramatic Committee of IYA station. Auckland. Arrangements for another "Mystery Xiglit," to be held on September 26, are well in hand. The programme for these nights will form a competition, and prizes will be awarded to listeners. It was suggested at the committee meeting that a prize be given for the best local effort in writing a play especially suitable for broadcasting purposes, and a recommendation to the company tc this effect was decided upon. It was also suggested that the reading of short plays should be included in the progra m mes. The company forwarded a letter which it had received from a listener, suggesting that an amateur night might be held flt the station, as distinct from the regular engagements of professional artists. It was felt, however, that at the moment no opportunity existed for the presentation of such a programme.
