AVONDALE BAPTISTS.
• A large and enthusiastic audience assembled to welcome the Rev. H. Knowles Kempton back to Auckland at the Avondale Baptist Church. Mr. John Graham presided and voiced the welcome on behalf of the members to their first minister. Rev. E. N. Goring (president of the Auckland Auxiliary), Rev. J. W. Kemp (Tabernacle) and Rev. L. B. Busfield (who had been acting pastor) spoke of their pleasure in having Mr. Kempton once more in the city and wishing both church and minister a long period of prosperity. Revs. A. Drake. F. A. Thompson and C. B. Jordan welcomed the guest of the evening on behalf of the local churches, speaking of the unity that already existed. I Messages were also received from Mr. I Barry (president of the New Zealand I Baptist Union), who had been called away South, and the principal of the Baptist College, Dr. J. J. North. EveryI thing points to a very happy and successful period in this young church.
