THE CAMERON CAFETERIA.
.Published by Arrangement.)
AN AUSPICIOUS OPENING. Visitors to Honolulu and America will remember with pleasure the cafeterias to be found there, and now at last Auckland has one. opened for the first time yesterday. Situated on the first floor in Palmerston Buildings, and approached from Customs Street West, the visitor is immediately impressed with the imposing marble staircase leading to the sunny, tastefully decorated cafeteria. The colour scheme adopted is green, restful to the eyes, tiled walls and main counter, thfc whole ensemble being extremely attractive, no expense having been spared to make the cafeteria as comfortable as possible.
The principle of the cafeteria is "serve yourself," and to this end the visitor is given a tray with serviette and silver cutlery. Passing on, hot soups, joints, fish, vegetables, etc., can be obtained, with dessert at the end. The appointments are such as to ensure speed in service. so essential to the business man, whilst a great variety of dishes is instantly discernible. A special featifre of the Cameron Cafeteria is the real mayonnaise salads, of which over a dozen await the connoisseur's choice. Foolproof tea urns have been installed, ensuring only the use of boiling water, whilst the coffee is such as to create an irresistible desire for more.
Briefly stated, it may be said that the Cameron Cafeteria strikes a completely new and novel note in the feeding of the multitude, and thanks to the efficiency so markedly evident it seems certain that the success of the proprietors is already assured. Luncheon or dinners are served from 11.45 to 2 p.m., and from 4.30 to 7, whilst when the cafeteria becomes better known it will undoubtedly become a most popular rendezvous for morning or afternoon teas.
