SERVICE CAR DRIVERS.
BREACH OF AWARD PROVED. PROPRIETOR FIXED. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) WELLINGTON", this day.* A service car proprietor, J. A. Hunter, was fined £1 and costs yesterday for failure to keep a wages and overtime book. The Labour Department also claimed £10 penalties under the Passenger Transport Drivers' Award from Hunter for employing two drivers for a greater number of hours than the number stipulated by the award, and for failing to allow these drivers to have 24 consecutive hours off each week, as required by the award. The amount of £1 was awarded on each claim.
