SKIES BOMBARDED.
ATTACK ON HAIL. LONDON, July 20. Bombarding the skies with high explosive to prevent the formation of hail, and thereby saving vines, is the latest feature of agricultural science, according to a dispatch from the "Daily Mail's" Geneva correspondent. Recently the authorities banged away at the skies for two hours, during a heavy thunderstorm on the FrancoSwiss border, with a. new type of high t xplosive. to prevent the hail forming \\ megrowers state that the efficiency of the method was proved by the area where the bombardment took place escaping serious damage, whereas in a neighbouring district where the rockets were not used 50 per cent of the crop was ruined. r
