WAIKATO NOTES.
On Thursday afternoon a delightful progressive bridge party was given by Mrs. C. M. Hume, Whitiora. The highest score was made by Mrs. E. J. Mears. The guests were: Mesdames F. B. Jolly, E. J. Stewart, W. H. Hume, H. Griffiths, J. E. Page, A. B. Beale, H. J. Ferguson, P. E. Stevens, Stuart (Wellington), G. Taylor, E. P. C'owles, P. Stewart, H. J. McMullin, A, \V. Ward,, A. Meek, and E. J. Mears. A jolly farewell dance was given in Miss E. Scherer's studio on Friday evening to farewell Miss E. Hill, who is leaving Hamilton shortly for Wellington. During the evening Miss Hill was presented with a gold signet ring from her Hamilton friends. Those present were: Mrs. Kent-Johnstone, Misses E. Scherer, E. Hill, L. Wade, M. Rimmer, N. Scherer, W. Elliott, N. Finlayson, M. Shaw, R. Johnstone, N. Jackson, W. McNickle, M. Johnstone, T. Leak, and A. Shaw. A surprise party was held at Ruakura on Tuesday, when most of the guests wore fancy dress costumes, and the dance went with a swing. Those present were: Mesdames Munro, Weatherley; Misses D. Stevens, E. Roach, S. Trvthall, E. O'Neill. D. Pratt, A. Graham, M. King. G. Howlett, O. Lock, F. Whitehouse, G. O'Neill, M. Annett, I). Parrish, R. Patterson, D. Howlett, and G. Roach. ' An enjoyable afternoon tea was held in Pearson's Hall, Hamilton East, on Friday, under the auspices of the Ladies' Guild. Miss Noble gave an interesting demonstration of tray and basket making. Miss E. Noble recited several items. Those present were: Mesdames Marlowe, H. G. Sell, E. M. Masters, J. McKenzie, ,T. T. Oakrten, A. Ramsay, F. Brooks, G. Way, R. G. Parker, J. Hobbs, P.' W. Forster, H. IT. Short, F. Tye, Powell, W. D. Ross, Edmonds. Davidson, J. Tye. Fitzgerald, Reid, Hodgson; Misses Noble (2), Forster, Davidson, Oakden. and Way. On Wednesday evening a surprise narty was given to Misses N. Finlayson, W. McNickle and ,T. Phillips, at their bach, when a jolly time was spent. The jruests were: Mesdames Kent-Johnstone, Johnstone. Bartlett: Misses E. Madelev. M. E. Scherer, E. Hill, M. Rimmer, C. Lloyd, M. Shaw. E. Greville, N. Scherer, M. Jolinstnne, Turner, and D. Shaw.
